Scott (Phycogold)

While this isn't news to me it is so nice to hear you guys talk about this together and be on the same page. Many things get said by people who weren't actually there so it's nice to have a video for the record.

Love the video Austin. Its great to have a comprehensive list of the styles you've studied. The fact that you don't share a lot of traits with the more egotistical side of the martial arts is part of the reason why I enjoy hearing about the arts from you!
Great episode! I don't know if this was the edited version of Austin's thoughts but a couple things about this episode from my perspective: Firstly, this is one of the few if not the only episode to actually feature unmorphed rangers tackle the cogs (putty patrollers :P) In Zeo they always morphed to fight the cogs, partly to show how much stronger of a threat they are and partly to save on shooting time because the actors weren't needed on 2nd unit. As a result it makes me really sad that we don't get to see a lot of the cool moves Austin does in that opening segment because they want to keep him a mystery as it's really one of the only times we see them in combat this season. What we see peripherally looks fantastic! Secondly, something that I think is cool is how this episode tackles the past with Goldar and Rito tying into the return of Jason. Sure you could just look at them as the side story but it's actually smart on the writers part helping re-establish Jason and the legacy of Mighty Morphin. This is the first time since the OG trio left that a flashback shows the past rangers being Jason, Zack, and Trini, any prior flashback (or even kid episode) just forgot about them and acted like it was always Rocky, Adam and Aisha so that in itself was a big moment for the show. In this instance though it also reminded or showed the current audience who Jason was and that he was the leader, the red ranger. It also did a similar service for Goldar, showing him before he became mostly a comedic character. This episode is all about the legacy. Jason is back, Goldar and Rito are back and the end teases the return of Zedd and Rita to challenge Mondo while for the rangers Jason essentially tells Tommy that change is good and that just because he's back doesn't mean he expects the clock to go back. Yes he's back but it's all going to be different, he's different. In essence you've got the villains who refuse to accept change and want to go back to the status quo and the heroes who see teach us the wisdom in looking to the past but embracing the present and all the challenges of the future.
Ahh several of these made me laugh. Love the Q&A stuff man. Also I'm surprised you didn't consider The Punisher given your desire for dark heroes, you'd get badass fights in both CQC and Weapons.
Austin, Walter and Thuy were long gone before Johnny, Steve and Karen were cast. Recycled footage and body doubles with horrific voice over dubs were used to cover up the fact they'd already left so he can't answer that question.
Are we still getting the reaction video for this? Very interested in hearing that behind the scenes story
Ahh yes, I look forward to your vidcasts and the potential topics. Once you've got used to the format that means you]ll have to start coming on some the podcasts out in the world ;)

I would love a part 2 to this. Thank you for that bit at the end calling people out who won't get help or won't try. I have seen first hand the ticking time bomb of self destruction people become when they think everything is handled and trying to help is impossible when they refuse to admit they don't need it or are fine. Too many come back/come out with the exact mindset you mentioned of thinking they are in charge and thats that. For better or worse thats not how the world works outside of military life. I find it is especially hard on those with command. There's a former Captain at my hospital I work with who is terrible at teamwork because she cannot break the mindset that the team she is a part of is "her team" rather than being a part of the team. Thanks for sharing.

This was one of the earliest episode I had on VHS so it got watched a lot. Hearing the stories of the food fight itself never gets old though. Gives the finished product a whole new look.

Hilarious! As someone who used to be really into fighting games watching you jump around a lot trying to hit him was brilliant. Mashing the buttons into special moves and a grab special was pretty good, shame you couldn't pull off a super (like Iron Man did to you with the bug gun) as you'd have enjoyed the spectacle.
